Haunting Images of Architectural Terra Cotta

Photos are from inside the studio and office of Ernest Kadel, the Principal Sculptor, at Gladding McBean in Lincoln, California. Kadel died unexpectedly in 1959, it was decided that by his fellow artists, to leave the office as a shrine to him and his work, nothing has been touched since that era. Many historic famous San Francisco buildings have Architectural Terra Cotta fabricated in Kadel’s studio including; Hobart, Shell and Russ buildings.
